Concordia (Wis.) Offensive Third Period to Much For Pipers in 8-1 Loss

MEQUON, Wis. — Hamline University (3-9-0) was defeated by Concordia University Wisconsin (7-7-0), 8–1, at Ozaukee Ice Center. Hamline managed 34 shots on goal but allowed seven third-period goals to the Falcons, who secured the non-conference win.

The first period began with Hamline gaining early possession, but Concordia Wisconsin capitalized on a power-play opportunity at 3:36. Levi Carter scored the opening goal with assists from Derek Humphreys and Connor Van Weelie, putting Concordia Wisconsin ahead 1–0. Hamline struggled to find the back of the net despite multiple shot attempts, including efforts from Cam VanSickle and Cal Levis. Both teams had chances during power plays, but neither could alter the score before the period concluded with Concordia Wisconsin leading.

In the second period, Tristen May-Robinson broke the deadlock for the Pipers at 17:42, converting a pass from Calvin Knight, with Nikolai Dulak also assisting. Concordia Wisconsin pressured throughout the period, with Humphreys and Matt Koepke testing Hamline's defense early, but Jake Turek held strong in goal. Hamline's penalty kill was effective, neutralizing multiple Concordia Wisconsin power-play opportunities, including a late one after Nicolas Haviar was penalized for cross-checking at 1:38. The period concluded with the two teams tied 1-1.

Concordia Wisconsin asserted dominance in the third period, netting seven goals to secure an 8-1 victory over Hamline. Cooper Brown initiated the scoring at 15:03, extending the lead after a setup from Koepke and Humphreys. Shortly after, Alex Ochitwa and Humphreys found the back of the net, with Humphreys scoring again, this time short-handed, at 5:58. Matt Green and Carter each added to the tally, with Carter's goal coming on a power play at 1:31. Jack Guvenal capped the scoring at 1:06, sealing a decisive win for Concordia Wisconsin.

May-Robinson scored once and registered four shots, contributing significantly to the offensive efforts. Dulak added an assist while dominating the faceoff circle with an 88% success rate. In goal, Turek made 31 saves despite facing a high volume of shots.

The Pipers will be back at home to start their series against currently No. 15 ranked St. Olaf on January 9th, with puck drop at 7 PM at TRIA Rink.
