MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Hamline (11-6, 3-5 MIAC) fell to Augsburg (13-4, 6-2 MIAC) 77-63 on Wednesday night at Si Melby Hall. Despite a strong second-half performance where they outscored Augsburg 40-36, the Pipers were unable to overcome the first-half deficit.
The first half commenced with Augsburg establishing an early edge, thanks to a jumper by Keenan Rodriguez at 18:04. The Pipers responded with a layup from
Dominic Dosmann at 17:40, assisted by
Brendan Ebel, to briefly take the lead. Augsburg's JJ Semanko was instrumental, contributing two 3-pointers, with the second one at 11:29 stretching Augsburg's lead to 15-9. Hanif Muhammad's layup at 2:55, followed by a free throw, widened the gap to 37-21. Augsburg maintained control, closing the half with a 41-23 advantage over Hamline.
Hamline's
Dane DeDominces sparked a second-half surge with a jumper at 19:26. He continued to impact the game with several key plays, including a fast-break layup assisted by Dosmann at 18:23, narrowing the lead to 41-27. Augsburg responded with strong inside play, highlighted by Elias Batala's dunk at 15:47, extending their lead to 50-33. Despite the Pipers' efforts, including
Cole Peterson's late scoring push with a 3-pointer and layup in the final minute, Augsburg maintained control, securing a 77-63 win.
DeDominces recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, adding two steals to his performance.
Raoul Vaidya posted 12 points, converting 3 of 4 free throws and contributing two assists. Ebel scored 11 points on 5-for-9 shooting and collected four rebounds. Peterson added seven points, making all three of his field goal attempts, including one from beyond the arc.
