SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Hamline (11-8, 3-7 MIAC) fell to Gustavus Adolphus (18-1, 10-0 MIAC) 72-51 on Wednesday night at Hutton Arena. Gustavus Adolphus capitalized on turnovers, scoring 19 points off the Pipers' 14 turnovers.
The first half began with Hamline taking an early lead, thanks to
Dane DeDominces' free throw and a 3-pointer from
Raoul Vaidya. The Pipers extended their advantage to 9-0 before Gustavus Adolphus responded with a jumper by Myles Barnette at the 17:09 mark. Gustavus Adolphus managed to tie the game at 22 with a 3-pointer by Jake Schmitt at 7:02. Gustavus Adolphus ended the half on a strong note with Eli Wolff's layup at 0:48, securing a 36-29 lead at halftime.
Gustavus Adolphus extended their lead early in the second half with Andrew Quam scoring a jumper and a layup, contributing to a 38-29 advantage. Vaidya responded for Hamline by hitting a three-pointer at the 19:08 mark, but Gustavus Adolphus maintained control. Barnette's two free throws at 10:58 pushed their lead to 49-40. Late in the half, Schmitt's three-pointer at 4:34 extended Gustavus Adolphus' lead further, and they closed out the half with a 36-22 advantage over Hamline.
Vaidya led the team with 16 points, connecting on four 3-pointers. DeDominces dominated the boards, recording 12 rebounds and adding four points.
Braedy Laliberte contributed 13 points, making 4 of 5 free throws.
Dominic Dosmann added 10 points and collected eight rebounds.
