SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Hamline (12-8, 4-7 MIAC) secured a decisive 80-56 victory over Augsburg University (14-7, 7-5 MIAC) on Wednesday at Hutton Arena. The Pipers' offense was led by a strong showing in the paint, contributing 34 points to the team's total.
Hamline established an early lead, scoring 10 points in the paint and capitalizing on fast breaks.
Brendan Ebel contributed significantly with a layup and a three-pointer, helping the Pipers to a 41-31 lead at the half. Augsburg's Elias Batala was active, scoring from the free-throw line and in the paint, but Hamline's
Dane DeDominces added to their advantage with two three-pointers. The half concluded with
Braedy Laliberte's missed layup, as Augsburg's Batala secured the defensive rebound.
Hamline extended their lead in the second half with a strong offensive performance, outscoring Augsburg 39-25. Ebel contributed significantly with a layup at the 19:39 mark and again with another layup at 7:37. DeDominces was pivotal, hitting a 3-pointer early and scoring a layup at 12:46. Augsburg struggled to keep pace despite efforts from Isaac Rabaey, who scored a layup at 18:18, and Batala, who added a layup at 14:36. Hamline's defense forced multiple turnovers, allowing them to maintain control and secure the victory.
Ebel scored 15 points and collected nine rebounds, leading the team in both categories. DeDominces recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, including three 3-pointers.
Jake DeDominces contributed 11 points, converting four of five free throws.
Raoul Vaidya added 10 points, hitting two shots from beyond the arc.
