ST. PAUL, Minn. — Hamline (4-13-3, 4-6-2) was defeated by Saint John's University (MN) (10-5-4, 5-2-3), 6–2, at their home venue. Despite scoring two power-play goals, the Pipers allowed six goals, including two in the final period.
Saint John's took an early lead at 14:44 when Carter Krenke scored the first goal of the game with assistance from Michael Spinner. The Pipers equalized late in the period during a power play, as
Tyler Jordan found the back of the net at 1:21, assisted by
Calvin Knight and
Jack Lambert. Both teams had multiple power play opportunities, but strong defensive efforts and blocked shots from players like
Kyle Mortenson and
Jacob Hicks kept additional goals at bay. The first period concluded with a 1-1 scoreline, setting the stage for a competitive match.
Krenke of Saint John's increased their lead to 2–1 with a goal at 17:07, assisted by Jordan Larkee and George Moore III. Saint John's extended the lead further when Jacob McPartland scored the eventual game-winning goal at 16:26, with assists from Jordan Newpower and Moore. Will Matzke and
AJ Carls. Despite late efforts, including several shots hitting the pipe, Hamline could not close the deficit by the period's end.
Saint John's extended their lead in the third period with a power-play goal by Logan Lyke at 14:09, assisted by Conner Couet and Chris Kernan, making it 5–2. The Pipers responded with increased offensive pressure but were unable to convert, as several shots went wide or were saved. As the clock wound down, Hamline pulled their goalie for an extra attacker, but Rob Christy capitalized with an empty-net goal at 1:27, assisted by Couet and Spinner, sealing a 6–2 victory for the visitors.
May-Robinson scored one goal on the power play and contributed four shots on goal. Jordan also converted a power play goal while winning 9 of 16 faceoffs. Knight provided an assist and registered one shot on goal. Hicks recorded four blocked shots to support the defense.
