GREEN BAY, Wis. --- Hamline women's tennis split a pair of matches on Friday, earning a 5-2 win over St. Norbert before falling 5-2 to UW-Stevens Point.
Against St. Norbert, the Pipers dominated doubles play with wins at all three spots to take an early 3-0 advantage. Chloe Reyes and Vanessa Pham earned a 6-4 victory at No. 1, while Elanna Kohner and Christine Muller picked up a 7-5 win at No. 2. Gabi Newton and Emily Dreger capped the sweep with a 6-4 win at No. 3.
Hamline carried that momentum into singles, winning three matches in straight sets. Kohner won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3, Muller cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4, and Dreger earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 5. Shayla Draper added another point at No. 6 with a 6-1, 6-0 win to secure the 5-2 team victory.
In the evening match against UW-Stevens Point, Hamline grabbed two doubles points as Kohner and Muller won 6-0 at No. 2 and Draper and Newton picked up a 6-4 victory at No. 3. However, Stevens Point took control in singles play, winning all six matches to claim the 5-2 final.
Hamline moves to 2-3 on the season following the day's matches.
