NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Hamline University women's lacrosse team opened its 2026 season with an emphatic road victory, topping North Central College
18–2 at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium on Saturday morning. The Pipers (1-0) took control early and never looked back, outpacing the Cardinals (0-1) in every quarter en route to the lopsided win.
Hamline University came out firing, scoring
seven goals in the opening quarter to take immediate control.
Emma Collins led the early surge, finding the back of the net multiple times in the frame to spark the offense.
Reagan Zywicki and
Lauren Moorhouse also contributed first-quarter goals as the Pipers capitalized on strong draw control play and quick ball movement in transition. North Central managed one goal in the quarter, but Hamline's defensive pressure limited clean opportunities. After 15 minutes, the Pipers owned a commanding
7–1 advantage.
Hamline's offensive depth continued to shine in the second quarter with
five more goals before halftime.
Moorhouse added to her tally with another goal, while
Zywicki continued her strong afternoon with additional scoring.
Collins remained a constant threat on the attack, stretching the defense and finishing her chances efficiently.
Ema Rehder also got into the scoring column during the half as the Pipers extended their lead. North Central added its second goal of the contest in the period, but Hamline entered halftime comfortably ahead
12–2.
The Pipers tightened up defensively in the third quarter, holding the Cardinals scoreless while continuing to add to their total.
Collins continued her dominant performance with another goal, while
Rehder added to her afternoon tally. Hamline's defensive unit limited second-chance opportunities and controlled possession, keeping the Cardinals from generating sustained pressure.
Hamline closed out the game with continued offensive efficiency and defensive discipline.
Zywicki and
Moorhouse each capped off strong performances with late goals, while
Aoi Suzuki added a score in the final frame to round out the scoring. The Pipers kept North Central off the board for the second straight quarter, sealing the decisive
18–2 victory.
The Pipers will take on Illinois Tech on Sunday, March 1st to finish out their weekend in Illinois, with their game starting at 11 AM.
