Hamline Falls to Concordia-Moorhead 5-2 at Home

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Hamline (4-15-3, 4-7-2) lost to Concordia-Moorhead (10-8-2, 5-5-1), 5–2, at their home arena. The Pipers managed a power-play goal in the third period but were unable to overcome the three-goal deficit established by the Cobbers in the first period.

The period began with Concordia-Moorhead immediately gaining momentum as Joseph Harguindeguy scored at 2:48, assisted by Caden and Carson Triggs. Concordia-Moorhead extended their lead at 4:13 when Ben Luedtke found the net, with an assist from Ryan Roethke. Despite several attempts from the Pipers, including shots by Brock Carls and Jack Whitmore Jr., Concordia-Moorhead's Noel Olsonawski made key saves to maintain the lead. Tucker Skime added a third goal at 19:29, assisted by Luedtke, solidifying Concordia-Moorhead's 3-0 advantage by the end of the first period.

Calvin Knight narrowed the gap for Hamline at 3:23 in the second period with a goal assisted by Tristen May-Robinson and Nikolai Dulak, bringing the score to 3-1. Despite the momentum shift, Concordia-Moorhead extended their lead to 4-1 with a power-play goal by Tucker Skime at 15:37, assisted by Joseph Harguindeguy. The Pipers faced challenges throughout the period, including multiple penalties that allowed Concordia-Moorhead to maintain offensive pressure, but goaltender Cade Chapman made several key saves to keep the home team in contention. The period ended with Concordia-Moorhead holding a three-goal advantage as the teams prepared for the final 20 minutes.

In the third period, Hamline's Dom Thomas narrowed the gap to 4-2 at 10:36 with a power-play goal, assisted by Jonah Mortenson. Concordia-Moorhead responded by sealing the game with an empty-net goal by Caden Triggs at 18:41, extending their lead to 5-2. The Pipers' attempts to press offensively fell short as Noel Olsonawski made several key saves for Concordia-Moorhead, preserving the visitors' advantage. Multiple penalties throughout the period added to the intensity, but Hamline was unable to capitalize further, resulting in a 5-2 loss.

Calvin Knight scored one goal and recorded four shots. Dom Thomas added a power-play goal on two shots. Jonah Mortenson contributed an assist and won three of five faceoffs, achieving a 60% faceoff win percentage. Cade Chapman finished with 23 saves in net.

The Pipers will finish their series with the Cobbers at home on February 7 with puck drop slated for 2 PM at TRIA Rink.
