Pipers Fall to Concordia-M'head in Thrilling 4-3 Overtime Match

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Hamline (4-16-3, 4-8-2) fell to Concordia-M'head (11-8-2, 6-5-1), 4-3, in an overtime contest at their home rink. The Pipers managed to level the score with a third-period goal but were unable to secure the win in the extra session.

The first period commenced with Concordia-M'head gaining an early advantage in faceoffs, setting the tone from the initial drop. Hamline had multiple opportunities to score, including a shot by Brock Carls at 17:10, but Dane Couture stopped their efforts with key saves. Concordia-M'head capitalized on a power play opportunity with Tucker Skime netting the first goal of the game at 11:26, assisted by Caden and Carson Triggs. Despite Hamline's persistent offensive attempts, the period concluded with Concordia-M'head leading 1-0.

Hamline squared the score at 1-1 when Landon Steffen scored at 17:20 with assists from Jacob Hicks and Jack Lambert. Concordia-M'head responded swiftly at 16:54 with from Ryan Roethke, assisted by Joseph Harguindeguy, leveling the game at 2–1. Despite being on a power play following a high-sticking penalty on Ben Luedtke, the Pipers failed to convert, but Tyler Jordan scored unassisted shortly after the penalty expired at 11:23, restoring Hamline's lead. The period concluded with Hamline holding down a 2–2 tie as Cade Chapman made several key saves to maintain the lead.

Concordia-M'head and Hamline battled through a tense third period that saw both teams find the back of the net. Joseph Harguindeguy opened the scoring for Concordia-M'head at 11:19, assisted by Jackson Lucia, pushing their lead to 3–2. Hamline responded on the power play when Dom Thomas netted an equalizer at 9:16, with help from Calvin Knight. Despite numerous attempts from both sides, including a late timeout by Hamline, the period ended with the teams locked in a 3–3 draw.

The overtime period saw Concordia-M'head clinch the victory with a sudden-death goal. At 4:41, Caden Triggs scored the game-winning goal, assisted by Joseph Harguindeguy, to secure a 4–3 win over the Pipers. Despite multiple attempts by Nicolas Haviar and Tristen May-Robinson for Hamline, Concordia-M'head's defense held firm, with Dane Couture making crucial saves. The final play occurred with only 19 seconds remaining, marking Triggs' 11th goal of the season.

Landon Steffen scored one goal and finished with two shots on net. Tyler Jordan added a goal and won eight faceoffs. Dom Thomas recorded a goal on the power play and collected three shots. Jonah Mortenson excelled in the faceoff circle, winning seven of eight attempts for an 87 percent success rate.

The Pipers will finish out their season with a final series against the Gusties on February 20 and 21st beginning on Friday in St. Peter, Minn. with a 7 PM puck drop!
