Pipers Continue Momentum With 15-3 Win Over Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Hamline University women's lacrosse team continued its historic start to the season, moving to a perfect 6-0 with a commanding 15-3 road victory over Franklin College on Wednesday evening at Faught Stadium. The Pipers used a relentless first-half offensive barrage and a stifling defensive effort to secure their third consecutive victory of their spring road trip.

Hamline seized control from the opening draw, putting together one of their most dominant quarters of the season. Reagan Zywicki ignited the scoring just five minutes in, followed shortly by a man-up goal from Lauren Moorhouse. The floodgates opened from there, as Emma Collins and Aoi Suzuki joined the scoring column. By the end of the first 15 minutes, the Pipers had built a massive 9-0 lead, including a natural hat trick from Collins.

The pressure didn't let up in the second frame. Moorhouse continued her clinical performance, netting two more goals to reach a hat trick before the midway point of the period. Sophia Warner also found the back of the net off an assist from Riley Zapf, helping Hamline carry a 13-0 shutout lead into the halftime locker room.

Franklin finally broke through in the third quarter, but the Pipers remained in control. Collins added her fifth goal of the night on a beautiful feed from Kayli Starkey, while Ella Dallmann converted a free-position opportunity.
With a running clock and the game well in hand, the Pipers focused on possession in the fourth quarter. While the Grizzlies added two late tallies, the Hamline defense—which held Franklin scoreless for the first 37 minutes of play—ensured there was no hope of a comeback.

The defensive effort was anchored by a strong performance in the crease from the Piper goalkeeping duo. Sophie Thompson earned the start and the win, turning away all three shots she faced in a shutout first half. Katarina Rice took over for the final 30 minutes, contributing four saves to help preserve the victory and limit the Grizzlies to just three late goals. Together, the pair combined for seven saves on the evening to stifle the Franklin attack.
