ORLANDO, Fla. --- The Hamline University women's tennis team continued its successful spring break trip in Orlando, Florida, on March 13, 2026, with a 5-2 victory over UW-Eau Claire. The Pipers utilized a strong doubles performance and several gritty singles wins to secure the non-conference win and improve their season record to 6-3.
Hamline seized early control of the match by clinching the doubles point with victories in two of the three flights. After dropping the opening match at the top spot, the Pipers responded with back-to-back 6-3 wins. Elanna Kohner and Chrissa Muller earned the win at second doubles over Kiera Schmid and Delaney Hanson, while the duo of Emily Dreger and Gabi Newton secured the third flight with a 6-3 victory against Stella Platt and Marin Catencamp.
The momentum carried into singles play, where the Pipers won four of the six matches to seal the team victory. Shayla Draper provided a dominant performance at the number six position, cruising to a 6-3, 6-0 straight-set win over Morgan Briggman. Emily Dreger also secured a straight-set victory at the fifth flight, defeating Delaney Hanson 6-2, 7-6.
The Pipers showed exceptional poise in the remaining matches, winning two additional points in three-set tiebreakers. Chloe Reyes battled back after dropping the first set at number two singles to edge out Beatriz Felchak 4-6, 7-6, 10-8. Similarly, Chrissa Muller displayed great resilience at the fourth flight, overcoming a second-set loss to defeat Ana Paula Ricaurte 7-5, 4-6, 10-7.
Despite hard-fought efforts from Vanessa Pham at number one singles and Elanna Kohner at number three, UW-Eau Claire managed to claim two singles points. Reese Burton took the top flight for the Blugolds with a 6-4, 7-6, 10-3 win, and Aubrey Wittwer earned a straight-set victory at the third spot. With the 5-2 result, Hamline looks ahead to the remainder of its Orlando schedule with strong momentum.
