Pipers Drop Straight Sets To No. 19 Gusties

ST. PETER, Minn. --- The Hamline University women's tennis team faced a formidable challenge on March 28, 2026, traveling to Saint Peter, Minnesota, for a matchup against No. 19-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College. Competing at the Swanson Tennis Center, the Pipers (7-5) were unable to overcome the depth of the No. 19 nationally ranked Gusties, falling by a final score of 7-0.

The match began with Gustavus establishing control during the doubles session, sweeping all three flights to secure the opening point. Molly Austin and Lanie Davis delivered a dominant 6-0 performance at the second position against Elanna Kohner and Chrissa Muller. The Gusties also claimed 6-2 victories at the first and third spots, where Karina Elvestrom and Kaya De Bruijn defeated Vanessa Pham and Chloe Reyes, and Ella De Young and Pavla Yakimova topped Emily Dreger and Gabi Newton.

The momentum stayed with the home team throughout singles play, as Gustavus swept all six flights in straight sets. At the top of the order, Karina Elvestrom earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Vanessa Pham, while Kaya De Bruijn followed with a 6-3, 6-0 victory against Chloe Reyes at the second flight. Molly Austin added a 6-1, 6-0 result at the third position over Elanna Kohner to further the Gusties' lead.

The remaining matches saw Ella De Young take a 6-2, 6-0 win at number four singles against Chrissa Muller, and Lanie Davis secure a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Emily Dreger at the fifth spot. Pavla Yakimova completed the sweep for Gustavus at the sixth position, defeating Shayla Draper 6-0, 6-1. Following the result, Hamline looks ahead to its next conference opportunity to return to the win column.
