SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Hamline University women's lacrosse team used a dominant first half to power past Augustana College 16–5 on the road. The Pipers erupted for eight second-quarter goals and never looked back as they controlled the game from the opening draw.
Hamline struck first and quickly built momentum in the opening quarter.
Kayli Starkey helped ignite the offense early, while
Emma Collins,
Lauren Moorhouse, and
Aoi Suzuki each added goals to give the Pipers a
4–1 lead after the first quarter.
The second quarter proved to be the turning point as Hamline broke the game open with an explosive offensive stretch. Starkey continued to lead the attack with multiple goals during the period, while Collins orchestrated the offense with both scoring and playmaking.
Moorhouse,
Suzuki,
Ema Rehder, and
Reagan Zywicki all found the back of the net during the run as the Pipers rattled off
eight goals in the quarter while holding Augustana scoreless, taking a commanding
12–1 advantage into halftime.
Hamline maintained control in the third quarter with three more goals.
Sophia Warner and
Riley Zapf each added tallies while Collins contributed another score to push the Pipers' lead to
15–3 heading into the final frame.
Starkey capped her strong performance with another goal in the fourth quarter as Hamline closed out the
16–5 victory.
Starkey led the Pipers with
four goals and three assists, while Collins added
three goals and four assists in a strong all-around performance. Moorhouse also recorded
three goals, while Suzuki scored
twice. Rehder, Zywicki, Warner, and Zapf each added goals in the win.
Lola Brouwer had 4 saves in goal and
Katarina Rice had 5 saves in net for the Pipers.
