Pipers Show Strong Singles Performance in Loss to Concordia-Moorhead

FARGO, N.D. — Hamline University (3-11, 1-4 MIAC) narrowly fell to Concordia College-Moorhead (9-6, 3-3 MIAC) with a final score of 3-4 on Saturday at Courts Plus. The Pipers secured victories in three singles matches, but Concordia-Moorhead clinched the win by taking two out of three doubles matches.

Hamline fell short in the doubles point as Concordia-Moorhead secured victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Logan Sandberg and Kai Kringlie defeated Liam Smith and Wesley Saunders 6-4 at No. 2 doubles, while Kai Pierce and Carson Anderson claimed a 6-2 win over Matthew George and Sam Siegel at No. 3 doubles. Hamline's Wyatt Crowell and Brendon Sebring earned a 6-4 victory against Ryoga Yano and Isaac Maddock at No. 1 doubles, but it was not enough to capture the doubles point.

In singles action, Hamline's Wyatt Crowell clinched a hard-fought victory at No. 1 singles, overcoming Ryoga Yano in a super tiebreaker with scores of 6-7(7), 7-6(9), 1-0 (13-11). However, Concordia-Moorhead responded with wins as Isaac Maddock defeated Matthew George 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Logan Sandberg topped Brendon Sebring 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.

Max Gulliford and Liam Smith contributed to the Pipers' singles success with straight-set victories. Gulliford triumphed 6-4, 6-1 over Kai Pierce at No. 4 singles, while Smith secured a 6-4, 6-1 win against Kai Kringlie at No. 5 singles. However, Concordia-Moorhead's Ryan Bitz sealed the dual match with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Wesley Saunders at No. 6 singles, leading to a 4-3 overall score in favor of Concordia-Moorhead.
