MENOMONIE, Wis. — The Hamline University lacrosse team (10-3, 3-3) secured a decisive victory over the University of Wisconsin-Stout (5-9, 0-7) with a final score of 19–11 on Saturday at Nelson Field. The Pipers' offense was bolstered by six player-up goals, contributing significantly to their commanding performance.
The first quarter began with UW-Stout taking control early as Mai Nou Vang scored the opening goal at 14:38, marking her 46th of the season. Hamline answered with a player-up goal by
Emma Halweg, assisted by
Emma Collins, at 14:14. However, UW-Stout quickly regained momentum with Megan Palmer's player-up goal at 12:07, assisted by Maddy Nuttall. Kailyn Morin extended UW-Stout's lead to 3–1 with a goal at 10:11. Vang capped the quarter with a free-position goal at 0:50, increasing UW-Stout's lead to 4–1 by the end of the first quarter.
Hamline took control in the second quarter, outscoring UW-Stout 7–2.
Lauren Moorhouse opened the scoring with a goal at 13:45, assisted by Collins, marking her 41st of the season.
Aoi Suzuki added to the tally with a goal at 12:48, following her own ground ball pickup. Moorhouse continued her strong performance with two more goals, including a player-up free position shot at 4:13.
Kayli Starkey contributed two goals, with the second one at 1:52. Despite UW-Stout's efforts, including a late goal by Brinley Tonn with 11 seconds remaining, the Pipers maintained their lead.
Emma Collins scored twice for Hamline in the third quarter, opening with a goal at 11:19, assisted by
Reagan Zywicki, and later adding another at 1:06 with an assist from Starkey. UW-Stout responded with a goal from Palmer at 10:43, followed quickly by Vang's goal at 10:29, leveling the score at 9–9. Riley Schulte then netted a goal for UW-Stout at 3:07. Despite several attempts, Hamline faced challenges with clear attempts, including a critical failed attempt at 1:56. The quarter ended with Hamline leading 10–9.
The fourth quarter featured a strong offensive display from the Pipers, who netted nine goals to secure a decisive win over UW-Stout. Starkey opened the scoring with a goal at 14:21, assisted by Collins. Vang quickly responded for UW-Stout, scoring twice in less than a minute. However, Hamline regained control with consecutive goals from Starkey, Moorhouse, and Halweg. Starkey added a player-up goal at 6:21, while Zywicki and Collins also found the back of the net. The quarter concluded with Halweg scoring a free position goal, sealing the victory.
