MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Hamline (11-7, 4-5) fell to St. Catherine University (15-5, 7-3) 6-1 on Thursday at the Baseline Tennis Center. Hamline secured its lone point with a victory at the No. 6 singles position.
St. Catherine University secured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Faith Simon and Ashley King defeated
Vanessa Pham and
Chloe Reyes, 7-5, at No. 1 doubles, while Melanie Gravdahl and Liliana Holmberg surpassed
Emily Dreger and
Gabi Newton, 6-4, at No. 3 doubles. The Pipers earned a win at No. 2 doubles, where
Elanna Kohner and Chrissa Muller claimed a 6-3 victory over Ryanna Steinhaus and Marie Pelletier.
In singles, St. Catherine University extended its advantage with straight-set wins. At No. 1 singles, Faith Simon prevailed over Pham, 6-0, 6-1. Holmberg added to the tally at No. 2 singles, winning 6-3, 6-3 against Reyes. At No. 3 singles, Pelletier defeated Kohner with a 6-3, 6-3 scoreline.
Hamline's sole singles victory came at No. 6 singles, where
Shayla Draper recorded a 6-1, 6-4 win over Gravdahl. However, St. Catherine University clinched the dual match at No. 4 singles as King overcame Muller, 6-3, 6-1. Steinhaus closed the match at No. 5 singles, defeating Dreger, 6-0, 6-1, to finalize the dual score.
