SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Hamline University (11-6) defeated Saint Mary's University (6-9-1) with a decisive 7-0 victory on Wednesday. The Pipers claimed all three doubles matches and swept the singles for a comprehensive win, putting them in their first playoff berth in program history.
Hamline secured the doubles point decisively with victories across all three courts. At No. 1 doubles,
Vanessa Pham and
Chloe Reyes defeated Elena Ruzevich and Emily Dondelinger, 6-1.
Elanna Kohner and Chrissa Muller followed suit at No. 2 doubles, winning 6-1 against Olivia Molumby and Kathryn Stiegel. The No. 3 doubles pair,
Emily Dreger and
Gabi Newton, completed the sweep with a 6-2 victory over Harsha Gangasani and Taylor DePover.
In singles play, Hamline maintained its momentum.
Vanessa Pham secured a win at No. 1 singles, defeating Elena Ruzevich, 6-3, 6-4. Reyes continued the streak at No. 2 singles with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 win over Emily Dondelinger. Kohner clinched her match at No. 3 singles, overcoming Aheli Patel, 7-5, 6-1.
Further solidifying the team's performance and the clinching victory for the Pipers playoff run, Muller triumphed at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-2, against Harsha Gangasani. Dreger achieved a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles over Taylor DePover.
Shayla Draper completed the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles against Kathryn Stiegel. The Pipers concluded the match with a dominant 7-0 final score.
