SAINT PAUL, Minn. --- Hamline University baseball sophomores
Bentley Casey (Elk River, Minn.) and
Alexander Hokenson (St. Louis Park, Minn.) have been named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honorees, the organization announced June 2.
As a versatile two-way contributor during his sophomore season, Casey started all 38 games at the plate, posting a
.238 batting average with
20 hits,
4 doubles,
11 RBIs, and a gritty
.379 on-base percentage heavily aided by drawing 7 walks and getting hit by a pitch 12 times. On the mound, he served as a frontline starter, logging
45.2 innings across nine starts, racking up
35 strikeouts, and tying for the team lead with three victories. Though he endured some tough stretches that resulted in a
6.11 ERA and a
.298 opponent batting average, his competitive mentality shone through, highlighted by a brilliant 7-inning complete-game shutout.
Alexander Hokenson put together a highly productive season starting all 37 games, anchoring the lineup with a stellar
.419 on-base percentage and a
.248 batting average. He showed an incredible, gritty knack for generating traffic by drawing 17 walks and getting hit by a pitch 19 times, ultimately scoring 24 runs and driving in 16 RBIs. Hokenson complemented his elite discipline with a
.308 slugging percentage—headlined by 4 doubles and a home run—while showcasing smart base running by going a perfect
8-for-8 on stolen base attempts.
