ST. PAUL, Minn. — Hamline defeated Crown (MN) 2-0 on Thursday at Pat Paterson Field. After a scoreless first half, the Pipers scored twice in the second half and finished with a 19-2 advantage in shots. Hamline put 10 shots on goal while limiting Crown (MN) to one shot on frame and no second-half shots.
The Pipers generated the larger share of first-half chances but could not break through, putting eight shots toward goal while holding Crown (MN) to two. Earlier, Crown (MN) tested Hamline in the opening minutes with a team save on Ashton Hosler's shot, but Hamline answered with
William Ferrufino hitting the left woodwork at 6:29. The Pipers then sustained pressure from the 11th through 25th minutes, with
Edgar Flores Vasquez, Ferrufino and
Johanso Camacho all getting looks, including saved attempts by Ferrufino and Camacho.
Alec Setterberg and the Hamline defense kept the half scoreless despite three Crown (MN) corner kicks, and Gavin Egan stopped late shots from
Augustine Feika and
Finley Reibestein as the first half ended without a goal.
Titus Lee put the Pipers in front in the 61st minute, finishing off an assist from Flores Vasquez to turn a scoreless match into a 1-0 lead. Earlier, Hamline generated repeated chances to start the second half, with Camacho hitting the woodwork, Lee forcing a save and the team earning two corners before the goal. The Pipers protected the lead through a physical stretch that included Crown (MN) corner kicks in the 67th and 77th minutes, then pushed forward again when
AJ Jueseah struck the woodwork in the 81st. Jueseah added Hamline's second goal in the 84th minute, and late saves by Crown (MN) on Feika and
Omar Rasouli shots came before the Pipers closed out the 2-0 result.
Lee scored the game-winning goal and finished with three shots, including two on goal. Jueseah added an unassisted goal. Camacho led Hamline with four shots and put two on frame. Setterberg played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with a shutout.
The Pipers are 2-1-1 overall. Crown (MN) is 0-2-1 overall.
