PELLA, Iowa — Hamline lost 2-1 to Central (IA) on Saturday, snapping their four-game shutout win streak to start off the 2026 season. Both teams were scoreless at halftime before Hamline scored once and Central (IA) scored twice in the second half.
Central (IA) generated the first sustained attacking stretch, with shots by Kylie Bloomstrom at :54 and Lila Gwyn at 1:39 and three corner kicks by 6:06, but Hamline came through the sequence still tied 0-0. Hamline created its first chances midway through the half, as
Addyson Barrett sent a shot out right at 16:22 and
Ellie Nhean followed with two attempts, including a bottom-left shot saved by Zoey Sizemore at 19:05. Central (IA) added a corner kick and two late shots, with
Sharis Garcia saving Emerson Holle's bottom-center attempt at 35:59, and the half ended scoreless at 0-0.
Central (IA) moved in front early in the second half when Olivia DeVos scored at 47:47, then the next stretch included Josie Newton missing high,
Alexis Geary having a shot saved by Zoey Sizemore and Central (IA) sending three more attempts off target through 63:30. DeVos scored again at 64:48 off an assist from Emerson Holle for a 2-0 Central (IA) lead, but Hamline generated saved shots from Nhean and
Danna Garcia before
Elysse Tanaka finished
Makenzie Lippen's assist at 73:06 to make it 2-1. After a Central (IA) foul at 80:48, Hamline earned two corner kicks at 81:33 and got late shots from Lippen and
Reese Keiffer, but neither found the net as Central (IA) held on for a 2-1 final.
Tanaka scored Hamline's goal, putting her lone shot on frame and finishing with two points. Lippen recorded the assist and added one shot off the bench. Nhean led Hamline with three shots, including two on goal.
Sharis Garcia played all 90 minutes in goal and made one save.
Hamline is 4-1-0 overall. Central (IA) is 4-0-0 overall.
