Pipers Show Competitive Spirit in 3-1 Loss to Concordia-M'head

MOORHEAD, Minn. — Hamline fell to Concordia-M'head 3-1 on Wednesday. The Pipers outshot Concordia-M'head 17-6 and had eight second-half shots, but were held scoreless after halftime.

After Sharis Garcia saved Ava Sylvester's shot at 12:28, the Pipers opened the scoring at 14:12 when Addyson Barrett scored for a 1-0 lead. The Pipers continued to create chances after the goal, earning a corner at 16:20 and getting shots from Neva Woodson and Elysse Tanaka, with Julia Roark saving Tanaka's attempt at 20:56. The attack generated five more shots from 28:01 to 33:23, including saved attempts by Ellie Nhean and Tanaka, and after Concordia-M'head earned a corner at 35:45, Hamline reached halftime ahead 1-0.

Concordia-M'head had the first scoring play of the second half at 52:52, when Emma Sheflo finished Nora Schwieters' assist to make it 1-1. Sheflo converted a penalty kick at 58:57, and after Julia Roark saved Tanaka's shot at 61:04, Sheflo scored again from Abby Feddema at 64:33 to give Concordia-M'head a 3-1 lead. The Pipers pushed back with Tanaka hitting the woodwork at 68:38, corner kicks at 69:13 and 75:33, and a Reese Keiffer shot that went high at 76:08. Hamline continued to generate late chances, including shots from Addy Ehler, Tanaka and Josie Carlson and another corner in the final minute, but Roark saved Carlson's attempt at 89:48 as Concordia-M'head closed out the 3-1 result.

Barrett scored an unassisted goal on her lone shot on goal. Tanaka led the Pipers with six shots and put three on frame. Nhean added three shots, including one on goal. Sharis Garcia played all 90 minutes in goal and made one save.

The Pipers are 4-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play. Concordia-M'head is 2-3-1 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play.
