SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Hamline lost to Macalester 1-0 on Saturday. Hamline generated 10 shots to Macalester's six and held a 5-3 edge in shots on goal, but was held scoreless.
Hamline kept Macalester off the board through a late first-half push, with
Alec Setterberg saving Kasdan Blattman's shot at 32:48 during a stretch that included three Macalester corner kicks. Earlier,
Johanso Camacho put Hamline's first shot on target in the fourth minute, and Setterberg answered Macalester's first shot on goal with a save in the 18th. The half grew more physical midway through, with Hamline whistled for several fouls and
Amjad Mohamed receiving a yellow card at 24:18, but Camacho still forced another Justin Ratner save less than a minute before the card. Hamline earned a corner in the 43rd minute and
Finley Reibestein put a shot on frame at 43:27, but Ratner saved it and the half finished without a goal.
Hamline conceded the second half's only goal at 73:50, when Milan Shah scored for Macalester to make it 1-0, and Hamline spent the closing stretch chasing an equalizer. Earlier, Hamline generated pressure soon after halftime with two shots from
Beniam Makonnen, a corner kick, and a Camacho shot that went right between 47:24 and 54:55. The half also grew more physical, with Hamline picking up yellow cards to Camacho in the 58th minute and
Edgar Flores Vasquez in the 81st amid a run of fouls from both teams. Hamline still created late chances, forcing Justin Ratner to save Reibestein's shot in the 79th minute and
AJ Jueseah's attempt in the 89th before Jueseah missed left in the final minute, as Macalester held on for the 1-0 final.
Camacho led Hamline with three shots and put two on goal. Reibestein also recorded two shots on goal, placing both of his attempts on frame. Setterberg played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with two saves.
Hamline is 3-3-3 overall and 0-1-2 in conference play. Macalester is 3-1-3 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play.
