ST. PAUL, Minn. — Hamline lost to St. Scholastica 2-0 on Wednesday at Pat Paterson Field. Hamline finished with 15 shots and six on goal, including nine shots after halftime, but was held scoreless.
Hamline spent much of the first half playing from behind after St. Scholastica went ahead on Harry Cook's goal in the eighth minute, but
Alec Setterberg kept the margin at 1-0 with several saves. Hamline's response included an
AJ Jueseah shot saved in the 13th minute, a
Cris Romero attempt wide in the 20th and a
Finley Reibestein chance high in the 24th. The Pipers built pressure midway through the half with two corner kicks in a short stretch, a
Johanso Camacho shot and a Reibestein shot saved in the 29th minute. St. Scholastica continued to create chances late in the half, but Setterberg saved attempts at 28:49, 33:08 and 38:19 to send Hamline into halftime trailing 1-0.
In the second half, the Pipers tried to answer a 0-1 score and created sustained pressure, but St. Scholastica's goal at 81:57 left Hamline chasing 0-2. Earlier, Jueseah put two shots on frame in the opening 10 minutes of the half, while Setterberg made saves on Patrick McDonnell and Louis Maerker during a physical stretch that also included yellow cards to Romero and
Edgar Flores Vasquez. Hamline pressed again from 71:39 to 76:05, earning three corner kicks and getting shots from
William Ferrufino, Jueseah and Flores Vasquez without breaking through. After the second St. Scholastica goal, the Pipers continued forward with a shot from
Augustine Feika, two late corner kicks and a Camacho attempt, but the match finished as a 2-0 loss.
Setterberg recorded eight saves over 90 minutes, including six in the first half. Jueseah led Hamline with four shots and put three on goal.
Hamline is 3-4-3 overall and 0-2-2 in conference play. St. Scholastica is 4-5-0 overall and 3-1-0 in conference play.
