Some player lead on the court. Other are leads off the playing surface. Then there are players like HU women's basketball sophomore Reilly Geistfeld who handle both roles equally well. 

The St. James, Minn. native got her season off to an excellent start with a team high 24 points in the Pipers' 69-65 loss in their season opener last Wednesday. Two nights later, she added eight in a loss at Northwestern and then tied for the team lead with nine markers in the season's first victory, a 76-41 decision at North Central last Saturday. 

Geistfeld's contributions are more than her team leading 13.7 points per game. She was the Pipers' top rebounder in all three games last week and has 30 on the season. Her 10,0 rebounds per game places her tied for second in the MIAC after a week of play. That is all the more impressive when  you consider Geistfeld came to the team after playing a full volleyball season. 

Geistfeld and her teammates are off until November 28 when they return to action with a non-conference game at  Wis-Superior. The home opener is also the MIAC opener -- December 2 against St. Thomas.
