Koehn Gets Pair In OT Tie

1/13/2013 5:27:00 PM

Box Score Chelsea Koehn (27) is rapidly making a  name for herself in women's hockey circles. The Hamline freshman scored both goals as the Pipers battled Concordia (WI) to a 2-2 OT tie in a non-conference game Sunday at Warner Coliseum.

Koehn hooked up twice with linemates Corinne Henning and Haley Johnson for the tallies to help the Pipers extend their unbeaten streak to three straight games.

Hamline is now 3-7-3 overall.

After a scoreless opening period, Koehn lit the lamp in the first minute of the second period. The Falcons tied the game midway through the session but Koehn scored from in close at 18:48 to give Hamline a 2-1 lead.

It stayed that way unless a CU shorthanded goal in the third period knotted the game for good.

Hamline had one last chance -- a power play for the last 95 seconds of the game but failed to score.

Each team finished with 36 shots on goal. Sarah Schneekloth had 34 saves for the Pipers.

Hamline returns to MIAC play next weekend with a series against Augsburg. The teams meet Friday night in Minneapolis and Saturday at 2 p.m. at Warner Coliseum.
