11/23/2013 4:10:00 PM

Box Score Hamline's women's hockey team threw a major jolt into powerful Gustavus Saturday. But it wasn't quite enough as GAC pulled away late for a 4-1 decision at Lund Arena.

HU goalie Sam Stark frustrated the Gusties time and again, making 37 saves. 29 of those came in the first two periods. HU trailed just 1-0 after 40 minutes but started the final session on a power play.

Corinne Henning (pictured) took advantage of the opportunity for her second goal of the season, an unassisted effort, at 1:11. But the Gusties struck back three minutes later and then hit on a power play to up the margin to 3-1. They added a goal in the waning seconds to drop the Pipers to 0-5-1 overall, 0-3-1 in the MIAC.

The Pipers, held to six shots on goal in the first two frames, had seven in the third for a game total of 13. Henning and Jaci Reinke led the way with three each.

Hamline has a non-conference series next weekend with Marian at Warner Coliseum. The teams will meet Friday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. and the next afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
