Carissa Wallerich (pictured) had good reason to smile Friday night. The junior roared from behind to record a dramatic three-set victory in No. 1 singles. Unfortunately, it was the only highlight of the night in an 8-1 loss at St. Mary's.

Wallerich got off to a rough start with a 1-6 loss in the first set. But she came back for a 6-3 set to force a third encounter. She fought her way to a 12-10 decision there to win the match.

The Pipers fell to 1-6 overall, 0-5 in the MIAC. They return to action March 24 against Puerto Rico-Mayaguez in Orlando, Fla.
