Softball Schedule Gets Re-Worked; St. Olaf DH here Tomorrow

4/24/2013 2:39:00 PM

The Piper softball team has been such a good road show lately that they will get to try it on familiar soil.

Hamline (13-9 overall, 9-3 MIAC) will play St. Olaf (5-11, 0-4) as scheduled on Thursday, April 25. But the games will be played on Meredith Field on the HU campus. The first game is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. The Pipers, who have won five straight games to move into second place inthe MIAC, will be the visiting team for both games.

It's the start of a hectic last week surge leading to the expanded league playoffs May 3-5  at Caswell Park in North Mankato, Minn. The MIAC announced yesterday that all 12 teams will be entered in this year's postseason tournament. There will be four groupings of three teams each that will play on May 3. The top eight teams in the league will get seeded with the bottom four being randomly selected. The teams with the best record in the four groups will advance to the weekend, where the usual double elimination format will then be used.

Hamline was slated to host Carleton (10-13, 5-5) Wednesday, April 24. That pair was postponed due to snow on the field and has been rebooked for Monday, April 29 at 4:00 p.m.

Starting with the St. Olaf dh, the Pipers will play six doubleheaders in a seven day period.
