Women's Tennis Match Cut Short By Weather

4/6/2013 4:49:00 PM

It wasn't exactly a day made for tennis. But the Piper women netters put up some stiff opposition before St. Benedict ... and the damp weather ... took a toll on them.

Hamline lost the shortened match, 6-0 with three matches suspended.

HU had a rough time in doubles but fared more nobly in singles. Rachal Barnes (pictured) and Cassie Rammage provided stiff opposition before bowing, 6-2, 6-4. Among the suspended matches, Carissa Wallerich has the best showing, going stride for stride with Jamie Hoffman of CSB at number one singles. Wallerich jumped to a 5-0 first set lead before Hoffman rallied to win seven games in a row. The second set was deadlocked at 2 when the match was stopped.

Hamline fell to 2-9 overall, 0-7 in the MIAC.
