Box Score Apparently the long rest did the Hamline women's hockey team a lot of good. The Pipers got solid goaltending from
Katie Beckmann (34 saves) and goals from
Chelsea Koehn, Breanna Simon and
Sam Berger in a 3-1 non-conference win over Concordia (WI) at Warner Coliseum Saturday.
Hamline improved to 3-7-1 overall with the win.
The Pipers took the edge early, using goals by Koehn and Simon seven minutes apart in the first period to build a 2-0 edge that proved uncatchable.
Berger, who assisted on Simon's goal, then took a feed from
Corinne Henning and made it 3-0 midway through the game.
Beckmann took over from there. The freshman stooped 17 shots in the third period as the Falcons pressed hard, getting one tally with 4:19 left.
But that was it and Hamline made it 1-for-1 in 2014.
The Pipers return to MIAC play next weekend they face St. Olaf. Friday's game is at Warner Coliseum (7:00 p.m. start). The teams play in Northfield the next night.
