Steve DeBus was hoping he would see in their season opener against St. Catherine. A pair of late goals, however, lifted the Wildcats to a 3-1 victory over hamline at Drake Arena.
Down 1-0 in the third period, HU fought back to tie the game when
Kasey Marquardt finished off a three way play with
Jaimee Nowicki and
Haleigh Bolton at 9:20 to knot the game. The Pipers fought off a power play only to allow a goal at 15:36 and another one 97 seconds later. HU goalie
Mary Shefveland was the busier of the two goalies, recording 28 saves in the setback.
Jaci Reinke and
Lizzy Schieldt were the top gunners for Hamloine wqith five shots on goal each. For the game, HU totaled 24.
Hamline will get a chance to even the score when they play their first game ever at Oscar Johnson Srena Saturday night against the Wildcats. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
