Box Score
It was another come-from-behind win for the Hamline women's hockey team.Â
Fortunately for coach Steve DeBus, this one wasn't nearly as dramatic.
Jordan Verleye scored twice and Katie Beckmann kicked away 36 shots  in a 5-3 victory over Augsburg at Augsburg Arena Saturday night.Â
As was the case Friday, HU fell behind early, giving up a first period goal.
Mackenzie McCormack evened matters early in the second period at 2:06. 10 minutes later, Jenny Magill, who scored  the winning goal in OT on Friday, finished off a power play with a goal that put HU ahead for good.Â
Verleye, the Pipers' leading scorer, broke free for an unassisted tally later in the period to make it 3-1.
Bree Simon pushed the lead to 4-1 early in the third but the Auggies closed within 4-2 midway through the period. Verleye, who had an assist in the game, finished it off with an empty net goal at 18:26. Corinne Henning, who led the team with six shots on goal, had a couple of assists and was a +3.
Then there was Beckmann, who faced 13 shots in the first period, 10 in the second and 16 in the third.Â
The Pipers, who have now won six of the last seven meetings with the Auggies, improved to 7-14-2 overall. Their 3-11-2 MIAC mark puts them in a logjam with the Auggies and St. Benedict for eighth place, two points behind seventh place St. Mary's.Â
They have a chance to pass SMU next weekend. They finish the season against the Cardinals, playing Friday night in Winona and then playing their last game ever at Warner Coliseum on February 22.Â
