It went down to the wire -- the final match, to be precise. But Hamline's women's tennis team fell just short in a 5-4 loss to St. Mary's Saturday at the U of Minnesota courts.

Lilli Dennison and Elizabeth Hughes scored a 9-7 doubles win to half an early SMU lead. 

When it came to singles matches, Emily Butler and Jordan Danielson scored straight set wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles to give HU a 3-2 lead. The Cardinals took the No.3 match to even the score at 3 but Shamara Duwearatchi came through at No. 4 singles to put Hamline back ahead, 4-3.

The Cardinals came back to win the final two matches and claim the verdict. Hamline dropped to 3-6 overall, 1-4 in MIAC play.
