The Hamline baseball team will finally get to open conference play They just won't play it in St. Paul.
Midway Stadium is still not ready for play. But it is dryer to the southeast. Hence, the Pipers' Wednesday, April 2 doubleheader against St. Mary's has been reslotted for Winona.
The pair of games start at 2:30 p.m.
The Pipers will take a 6-4 overall record into the games with the Cardinals, who stand 4-10. It will be the first MIAC games fore each team. HU leads the MIAC in many offensive categories, including batting average (.368), slugging average (.491), runs (121) and walks (70).
Evan Cordell is the top hitter in the MIAC with a .606 mark and also is tops in RBI with 18.
The dh also debuts the new MIAC baseball format. The first game of the dh will be seven innings with the second game scheduled for nine innings. If the first game, however, goes extra innings, then the nightcap will revert to seven innings.
Hamline is also scheduled to play at St. Thomas Saturday, April 5. Their postponed March 29 dh with Gustavus Adolphus has not been re-scheduled yet. The Pipers are slotted to be at Midway against Augsburg on Tuesday, April 8.
