Box Score 2 Hamline's softball team scored runs in bunches Friday against Carleton. Unfortunately, the Knights did the same thing, defeating the Pipers twice, 5-4 and 10-6.
In the opener, the Pipers had leads of 3-1 and 4-3 only to see the Knights come back with a pair of two run rallies to take the verdict.
Chelsea Koehn went 3-for-3 and also stole two bases and
Lauren Clouston knocked in two runs for HU.
In the nightcap, the Knights broke out on top with a four-run second inning for a 4-0 lead. Hamline responded in like fashion in the third with
Lauren Turitto's two RBI double the big blow. The Knights came right back with in the bottom of the inning, one in the fith and four in the sixth. That offset Turitto's second two-RBI hit of the game in the seventh and lowered the Pipers' won-loss record on the season to 16-15-1 overall. Koehn also had two hits.
The Pipers currently hold fourth place -- the final playoff spot -- with a 10-6 league mark.
HU returns to action Saturday when they host Gustavus Adolphus on Senior Day at Meredith Field. The doubleheader begins at 1:00 p.m.
