If
Jennie Dwyer slept on the bus ride home from Winona Saturday, it would be understandable. She had a very busy, tiring afternoon. The junior swam to victories in the 1650 Mixed freestyle and came back to claim a Mixed 500 Free crown as Hamline's women's swimmers edged St. Mary's, 106-104, Saturday.
Taylor Elgarten had a first and second place finish with
Kaitlyn Allee, Maya Rapp and
Kayla Hennum also contributing wins for HU.
Dwyer's day started with a winning 20:48.75 time in the 1650. Later, she edged St. Mary's Reese Galewski by three seconds with a 5:56.94 performance in the 500. Elgarten took the 200 Free race with a 2:19.85 clocking. She barely missed matching Dwyer's double when her 1:02.83 time was just .19 off the lead. Allee bested teammate
Elizabeth Gregorio to win a tight 200 backstroke race (2:33.75). The freshmen was second in the 100 Breaststroke (2:47.89). Her fellow first year teammate Laura Meier was third (2:59.15)
Hennum split a pair of battles with the Cardinals' Janelle Mueller in the Diving competition. The sophomore took the 3-Meter battle, scoring 201.65 points. She was second in the 1-Meter (193.15).
Rapp swam a 2:42.7 Butterfly and joined Elgarten, Dwyer and
Savannah Robertson for a win in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
Hamline is back in action next Friday, hosting Concordia (6:00 p.m.). They will compete at the St. Catherine Invite next Saturday.
