Box Score 2 The Hamline baseball team was held to 10 hits on the day and dropped their MIAC opening doubleheader, 7-0 and 4-1, at Gustavus Adolphus Monday.
Matt Connell had a pair of hits in the first game and drove in the run in the second game but the Pipers fell to 9-8 overall.
HU had five hits in the lidlifter. GAC scored three times in the second inning and added four more in the fifth to put the game out of reach.
Zach Smith (1-2) and took the loss.
In the second game, HU grabbed a second inning lead when Connell's bases loaded walk scored
Joe Setrum, who also had walked. The Gusties, however, tied it in the bottom of the inning and scored twice in the fifth and once in the sixth to earn the win.
Brandon Rushmeyer (0-1) took the loss. HU had five hits in this game as well.
Hamline will look to even the slate Wednesday when they head to St. Mary's for a doubleheader that begins at 2:00 p.m.
