Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 The Hamline baseball team ran into a St. John's team that was as hot as the weather. The Pipers dropped their final two games at CHS Field this year to the Johnnies, 8-1 and 15-2.
In the opener,
Dan Moro stole a pair of bases to increase his team-leading total to 18 and scored the team's lone run. HU was held to two hits, scoring their run in the sixth when Moro walked, moved to second on
Chris Zeller's walk and scored on an error.
In the second game, SJU jumped to a 5-0 lead after an inning and a half. HU responded in the second with a pair.
Fernando Espinosa, subbing for the injured
Jacob Picht, drove in the first run on a sacrifice fly.
Collin Olstad followed with a single and, after the SJU centerfielder overran the ball, an alert Zeller sprinted home. But that was the Pipers could muster.
Hamline, which has already clinched its third consecutive winning season, is 21-17 overall. They wrap up 2015 with a non-conference doubleheader at UW- La Crosse Saturday.
