Box Score For 37 minutes Friday night in Winona, Hamline's women's hockey team battled St. Mary's even and held a solid edge in shots on goal. But the Cardinals broke the tie at that point and added a clincher later, sending the Pipers to a 4-2 loss.Â
After SMU grabbed an early lead, Jaimee Nowicki tied matters with her team leading fifth goal fo the year at 4:07. The homestanding Cardinals regained the lead before the end of the period only to see Jena Kosley (pictured) convert a Brede Postier pass midway through the second to retie the game at 2.Â
That was good as it got for the Pipers, who fell to 6-8-2 overall, 3-5-1 in the MIAC. The Cardinals got that late second period goal and added a fourth with 2:23 to play. Hamline ended up with a 27-26 edge in shots on goal, led by Dana Almquist, who had five. Kosley and Chelsea Koehn had four apiece.Â
The same teams hit the Oscar Johnson ice Saturday for a quick turnaround and rematch. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
