Martinek Wins Three To Pace Women Swimmers

Taylor Martinek continues to make waves in her first year as a swimmer for Hamline. The freshman won three individual races and was also on a winning relay team for the Pipers Saturday against Macalester at Bush Pool. The Pipers lost the dual meet, 169-119, but scored several victories along the way.

Martinek took the 100 Backstroke in 1:02.77 and later came back for wins in the 50 Backstroke (25.18) and the 200 Backstroke (2:18.53). The Iowan also teamed up with Taylor Hanson, Taylor Elgarten and Savannah Robertson for a win in the 200 Free Relay (1:46.99). 

Kayla Hennum swept the 1 and 3 Meter diving competition. Other notable efforts included: Jennie Dwyer (pictured) finishing a strong in the 500 Freestyle; Dwyer
and Elizabeth Gregorio finishing 3-4 in the exhausting 1650 Free; Elgarten and Tati Yepes going 2-3 in the 200 Free and Maya Rapp recording third place finishes in the 200 Butterfly and 400 IM. 

Hamline gets to size up two more conference foes January 29 when they host Augsburg and Concordia at Bush Pool. The meet starts at 6:00 p.m.
