Women's Hockey Blanked At St. Kate's

1/6/2016 9:43:00 PM

Box Score The Piper women's hockey team ran into a hot goaltender in their first outing on the 2016 portion of their schedule. Hamline saw all 29 drives sent in the direction of St. Catherine goalie Kristin Pechacek get shunted aside in a 3-0 non-conference setback Wednesday at Drake Arena. Jaimee Nowicki unleashed seven shots to lead HU -- including five in the first period. Jaci Reinke and Jessica Goldberg added three each.

The Wildcats scored 100 seconds into the game and took advantage of a five-minute major to make it 2-0 after one period. They held HU at bay the rest of the way. Jessica Cole, who recorded 22 saves in goal, was pulled for a sixth attacker in the late going. SCU, however, found the empty net to seal the verdict.

Hamline is now 5-5-2 overall. They return to Oscar Johnson Srena for a rematch with Wis-Eau Claire on Friday, January 8. Note that the game time is 2:00 p.m. instead of the usual 7:00 p.m. faceoff. Hamline returns to MIAC play next week when they travel to Concordia for two games.
