Hamline's women's tennis team ran into a tough Northwestern (Roseville) team, dropping an 8-1 decision to the Eagles Friday night. Maddie Muotka earned the lone HU win via a forfeit at No. 2 singles.Â
Elizabeth Hughes (pictured) came the closest to an on-court win. Playing No. 4 singles, Hughes split a pair of 6-3 decisions, dropping the tiebreaker 10-8. Maggie Gibson also came close at No. 5 singles. Gibson won the first set 6-1 but surrendered 6-3 and then in the tiebreaker, 10-5.Â
Emily Wollmuth lost a pair of close sets at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-4.
