Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 The Hamline softball team got to see both sides of the spectrum in their season opening doubleheader February 27.
Suffice it to say they liked one look a lot better.Â
HU opened a pair of games in Rochester, Minn. with an 11-3 victory over Martin Luther. Unfortunately, the second game didn't go as well as Luther dealt them an 8-1 loss.Â
Sarah DeMars (pictured)Â started the season on the mound in a big way. She retired all nine MLC batters she faced to earn the win in the five inning game. Sabrina Warden made her college debut by working the final two innings.
At the plate, Mary-Clare Couillard picked up where she left off last May with a 3-for-3 game. The junior had a pair of doubles, scored twice and knocked in three runs. Aubree Douglas had a memorable debut as a dp, duplicating Couillard's numbers. Abbie Annen, also playing her first game for Hamline, had three singles.Â
In the second game, the Pipers were held to four hits. Casey Anderson, who pitched the first three innings and suffered the loos for the Pipers, knocked in the lone run with a double.Â
Hamline returns to Rochester on Saturday, March 5 to face Dubuque (10:00 a.m.) and Millikin (2:30 p.m.).Â
