The freshman tandem of Maddie Muotka and Natalie Pieterick earned a hard fought win for the Hamline women's tennis team in an 8-1 loss to Bethel Saturday at Holt Courts. Playing No. 3 doubles, the pair bulldozed their way to an 8-3 win in the highlight of the day for the Pipers. Lilli Denison and Maggie Gibson saw their singles winning streaks snapped. But both did not go down without a fight. Denison lost a 7-6 opening set and fell 6-3 in the second. Gibson recovered from a 6-0 opening set setback for a 6-4 decision in the second. Elizabeth Hughes also provided rugged competition at No. 5, losing 6-2, 6-4.
HU is 6-12 on the season, 1-8 in the MIAC. They wrap up the season April 18 with a match at Macalester.
