Taylor Martinek got the new year off to a good start Friday afternoon at Bush Pool. The sophomore won a pair of races for Hamline in their dual meet with St. Benedict at Bush Pool. Martinek won the 200 Freestyle in 2:00.70 and later hit the end first in the 100 Backstroke (1:01.75). Maya Rapp was a close second in the 100 Butterfly, finishing just .13 behind the winner in a time of 1:06.69. Kayla Hennum was second in the 3-Meter Diving event with a 183.35 total. The senior was third in the 1-Meter event (174.75). Bryce White had a pair of third place finishes, handling the 50 Free in 26.68 seconds and the 100 Free in 59.68.

The 200 Free relay team of White, Rapp, Taylor Elgarten and Taylor Hanson was a close second (1:48.85). 

The Pipers are in action Saturday as well, competing in a meet at St. Thomas.
