HU assistant football coach Joe Troche has been selected as an attendee at the annual American Football Coaches Association "30 Under 30 Coaches Leadership Institute" event to be held in Nashville, Tenn. on January 8.

The one-day event, which is held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the AFCA, will feature focused, interaction lectures on topics specifically tailored to emphasize influential leadership. Troche, who played his college ball at St. Olaf, just finished his fourth season as an assistant football coach at Hamline. He coaches Piper linebackers, is the special team coordinator and also works as a recruiter. The Pipers went 5-5 in 2016 – their best win total in two decades. In 2010, Troche was one of 30 coaches selected to participate in the NCAA Future Football Coaches Academy in San Antonio, Texas.

Troche is the only MIAC coach -- and one of just six NCAA Division III coaches -- selected to attend.
