They both hit the water hard with winning results. They just do it in different ways. Taylor Martinek swam to victory in the 200 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke and Sha'Kila Hoke dove to victory in the 3-Meter competition for Hamline in a meet with Gustavus Adolphus Saturday at Bush Pool. Martinek, a junior, won her race by less than a second, finishing in 2:04.55. She took the Backstroke in 1:01.15. Hoke, a sophomore, scored 159.75 points to edge her opponent by slightly more than two points.
It was the high points of the day for the Piper women swimmers and divers in a 180-55 meet loss to the Gusties.
Bryce White was third in the 50 Free (25.97). The 200 Free Relay quartet of Hannah Lenzen, Skyler Kane, Taylor Elgarten and Taylor Hanson took third in 2:00.02.
The Pipers will be back in Bush Pool on Saturday, November 4 to take on several MIAC foes in the annual Hamline Invite.
