Box Score They had plenty of shots on goal -- 27 to be precise -- and they won the faceoff battle 39-18 but the Hamline women's hockey team couldn't find the back of the net and took a 3-0 road loss at Wisconsin-Eau Claire in their 2017-18 season opener Thursday night. Darby Dodds and Becca Zarembinski had four shots apiece with Bre Simon and Sarah Bobrowski adding three each but they couldn't solve WEC goalie Erin Connolly who posted her second shutout of the season.
Annie Juergens had 32 saves at her end of the ice, 26 in the last two periods. The Blugolds (2-0) scored twice in the first 15:16 of play and added an empty netter to cap the evening.
The Pipers will look for their first win of the season Tuesday, November 7 at Wisconsin-Superior. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
