Box Score 2 He practically grew up in the shadow of Koch Diamond. So it was understandable that Hamline senior catcher
Domenic Dandrea, a Highland Park, Minn. native who played his high school baseball at Cretin Derham-Hall, would be motivated to perform well as the Piper baseball team took on St. Thomas Saturday. The senior whacked out four hits and drove in a run as Hamline lost a pair Saturday, 4-3, in eight innings and 9-3.
Nolan Schoonveld also had four hits for Hamline, which dropped to 12-22 overall, 5-11 MIAC.
The day started well for HU.
Jacob Picht lef off the first inning of the first game with a single and rode home on a double off the bat off
Collin Olstad. Schoonveld, who started and pitched four scoreless innings, singled home a pair of runs in the fifth for a 3-0 lead. But UST tied the game in the bottom of the \inning and kept HU off the scoreboard until plating a run in the first extra inning for the win.
In the second game, UST scored four first inning runs for a quick lead. HU rallied in the fourth for a pair of runs but UST scored four times for an 8-2 lead. Dandrea drove in a run with a fielder's choice in the fifth but that was it for the Piper offense.
