Box Score 2 If you throw strikes and don't walk people, good things will happen. Just ask Hamline softball pitcher
Casey Anderson. The senior scattered six hits for her third straight shutout to lift the Pipers to a 7-0 win at St. Olaf Saturday and a split of the MIAC doubleheader. The Pipers lost a hardluck 2-1 decision in nine innings in the first game.
Anderson, a righthander, has not allowed a run -- or a walk in her last 19 innings of work and improved her overall won-loss record to 5-4.. She kept the Oles off balance all day, recording five strikeouts and allowing no runner to get past second base. She received solid offensive support from Sydney Franciscus, who homered and drove in two runs,
Abbie Annen who had two hits and scored a run and
Aubree Douglas (pictured), who had two hits and two RBI. HU scored runs in five different innings and slapped out 10 hits to improve to 11-9 overall, 6-2 in the MIAC.
In  the opener, senior pitcher
Sarah DeMars (6-4)  gave up just seven hits, walked one and struck out nine Oles. The Pipers grabbed the lead on an unearned run in the third inning. The Oles evened the game in the fourth and won it on a ninth inning home run.
Chelsea Koehn had three hits in that game and four for the day to up her career total to 139 -- ninth place all-time in HU history.Â
Hamline returns to action Sunday against St. Thomas at Meredith Field. First pitch for the doubleheader is slated for 1:00 p.m.
